6/26/2011 199 Days Old

June 26th, 2011

On the 199th day in the life of the most beautiful girl in the history of the world the morning began peacefully. We started our morning slow this morning. We have been busy trying to prepare the house to sell. We actually got to busy and forgot to blog. Maya is doing well. I hope the absence of a post for the last two days didn’t freak any one out. We recently recently recieved our photos of Maya from the N.I.L.M.D.T.S. six month birthday photo shoot. Once again Petra’s work is amazing. We also had the opportunity to take a few pictures of Maya with out a feeding tube or air hose. Don’t worry she was only with out her cannula for a few seconds.

6/27/2011 200 Days Old

June 27th, 2011

On the 200th day in the life of the most beautiful girl in the history of the world the morning began peacefully. Maya woke up twice during the night, but when I awoke she was sleeping peacefully. She slept right through the crazy storm that blew through our neighborhood around the time of her feeding. She also stayed asleep through much of the day. Erin worked at the dining room table as I got a few last minute details before listing the house. The house goes on the market tomorrow. I am in need of a little rest after the last week, and apparently Maya is too. We did get to spend a little time sleeping on the couch.

This evening Grandma Kathy came by for dinner and to see Maya. Maya stayed asleep most of the time, but I think she enjoyed the visit. She has been a little congested all day. We are going to try deep suction again tonight. It really helps Maya sleep, but we hate doing it. She makes the saddest noises every time. Now that she seems to be more aware of her surroundings it is even more difficult than before. She looks up at us for a bit and then her eyes close with tears. I hope that her congestion can clear up. We don’t know what causes it, but we do know that she was not always gunky. Maybe one night we will suction her and her throat will just stay clear. I hope that that time is tonight.

June 28th, 2011

On the 201st day in the life of the most beautiful girl in the history of the world the morning began peacefully. Erin had to go to work today. I got to stay home with Maya. Grandma Patti came by to watch Maya for a bit so I could get out of the house. Maya was very tired again today. She slept on grandma for quite a while. I got to see grandma lead Maya through head shoulders knees and toes. I think grandma might have enjoyed it more than Maya.

This evening Grandpa Bob and Grandma Chris came by to eat dinner with us. Once again Maya napped on a grandma. It is one of her favorite things to do. She slept better last night after her booger removal, but she was still tired. She was only awake for about 4 hours spread out throughout the day. Hopefully she will sleep through the night tonight and wake up ready to play tomorrow.

6/29/2011 202 Days Old

June 29th, 2011

On the 202nd day in the life of the most beautiful girl in the history of the world the morning began peacefully. Maya let me sleep in this morning. I didn’t get up until almost 8:00. At 10:00 grandma Patti came by to help take care of Maya. We all sat on the couch and watched a movie. As is her usual grandma sang goofy songs with Maya. There was head shoulders knees and toes and a few others that I’m pretty sure she made up as she went along. Grandpa Greg also stopped by in the afternoon.

This evening it was just the three of us. We got some take out and watched a movie. Maya has been a little cranky today. It is so hard to tell what is going on with her. She has been very tired for a few days and normally that means that she is struggling. We did get in some tummy time and other exercises this afternoon, but most of the day she was either grousing or sleeping. Right now she is sleeping peacefully. Hopefully she will continue sleeping in peace all through the night. Last night that was certainly not the case.

6/30/2011 203 Days Old

June 30th, 2011

On the 203rd day in the life of the most beautiful girl in the history of the world the morning began peacefully. Erin had to go to work today and I got to spend the morning alone with Maya. Maya decided that she wanted to be awake today. She woke up about 7:00. I held her on the couch as we watched TV. I think that she figured she got enough rest sleeping for the last three days, and she was making up for it today. She did take a few 15 min cat naps, but she would wake up bright eyed and ready to play. She was talking all morning. What she was saying I have no idea. At times her little tongue would push out of her mouth and lick the air. I figured that meant she wanted a banana. After she was through with the banana I tried a little bottle feeding. She only had about one cc, and she didn’t latch on, but she did manage to get it out of the bottle and to her belly. Some ended up on the outside of her belly too, but we are working on that.

This evening Grandma Kathy came by to watch Maya so that me and Erin could go scope out a new house for Maya. I don’t think we found the right place yet. Maya was still awake when we got home. She stayed awake until Erin sat down with her and cuddled her to sleep. She had a very full day. Hopefully that will translate into a restful night for both her and her parents.
